Carrick beat Gurteen Celtic

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Carrick Town U14 boys recovered from their opening day defeat against Real Tubber with an emphatic 11-1 away drubbing of local rivals Gurteen Celtic. The match was played under very difficult weather conditions but the Carrick side played some very impressive one touch football to totally dominate the opposition.

Early goals from Enda Moreton and the inspirational Michael Murtagh set the tone for the game as the away side attacked right from the first whistle. Well taken goals from John Gannon and Matty Mulvey gave the away side a comfortable 4 nil half time lead. Second half substitute Armando Da Silva displayed some Samba magic with a quick fire hat-trick in less than fifteen minutes.

Further goals from second half substitutes Matthew Mc Dermott, Patrick Doyle as well as a second strike from Michael Murtagh and a cracker from Man-of-the-match Aaron Mc Loughlin sealed the victory.

The Carrick team lined out as follows, Adam Armiger, Shane Mc Carthy, Daniel Marron, Cormac Nolan, Liam Rynn, Enda Moreton, Michael Murtagh, Aaron Mc Loughlin, Matty Mulvey, Paul Mc Goldrick, John Gannon. Subs used… Jake Mc Dermott, Armando Da Silva, Joe Sharkey, Matthew Mc Dermott, Patrick Doyle.

Under 14s record another win

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Carrick U14 had another hugely impressive, 9-2 victory over Gurteen in the first round of the Connaught Cup played last Saturday morning.

With the sides tied at two each at half-time Carrick turned on the style in the second half to complete a comprehensive victory. Daire Farrell was on fire throughout the match and finished with an extraordinary personal tally of 8 goals, each of which was clinically dispatched.
The away team simply had no answer to Daire’s speed and skill which tormented the away side throughout the 70 minutes. However it was far from a one man show and the whole team contributed to this victory.
With the result beyond doubt the management team were afforded the opportunity to give the whole squad a run out and all those who played performed admirably. Shane Mc Carthy, making his first start of the season was particularly impressive in defence whilst Jack Delacy bossed the middle of the park exchanges.
There was a large attendance at the game to cheer on the home side and we hope they will turn out again for next Saturday’s vital league match.
The team lined out as follows ….
Brendan Flynn, Joe Sharkey, Shane Mc Carthy, Michael Heeran, Ciaran Blain, Shane Cronouge, Jack Delacy, Mick Murtagh, Ronan Egan, Daire Farrell, Paul Mc Goldrick.   Subs used….Declan Mc Goldrick, Darren Conlon, Cian Henry, Cathal Mc Elgun and Niall Conlon
